It's about time the Equality State lived up to its name and allowed adult citizens to make their own decisions about the person with whom they want to spend their lives.

I've been married for 28 years to my beautiful wife, Diana. When we got married in 1986, no one objected. No one tried to prevent us from getting our marriage license. No one tried to pass legislation barring us from saying our vows.

Why on earth should we stop anyone from exercising that same right based solely on the person to whom they've chosen to make a commitment? Frankly, it's not your business and it's certainly not the Legislature's business.

This should have been settled long ago. Why are we still talking about this? We really are better than that.
